Fluid Journal : Fall 2012
availability to a larger audience. Archives Finally, another item that is a big viewer draw and adds a valuable resource of nearly 20 years of technical information (dating back to the first issue of the Fluid Journal in 1993) is an archives of technical information covering such topical subjects as: • Application • Crops • Management • Tillage. More awaits ahead This pretty much sums up the exciting journey we've traveled as we move toward our second full year on the website, with much much more awaiting us as we journey into future years- -all to better service and inform our readers on the latest technological and agronomic advances in the world of agriculture. FROM THE PUBLISHERS Just getting started We began our transition from print to the website with the 2008 Early Spring issue of the Fluid Journal. Prior to this we were distributing 17,000 print editions of the Fluid Journal, principally to readers in the United States, with guesstimates as to readership. When we made the transition away from our print edition, our initial website presented the Fluid Journal in a pdf format, again using guesstimates regarding readership. Precision added With the Fall 2010 edition of the Fluid Journal the decision was made, after viewing a number of worldwide websites, to expand our viewing audience by putting the Fluid Journal on the Realview website, returning to magazine form again. It began an exciting journey where our expectations have been vastly exceeded. Instead of making guesstimates concerning our viewership as we did with our print editions we now see, with precision, numbers we never expected---and by the week. Summing up our first year on the web (2011) we had 3,850 visits with 81,034 page views in 72 countries/territories, the bulk of the readership being in such major countries as the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil, France, the United Kingdom, etc. And that's not all. In addition to Realview, we are also on Facebook and Twitter with an expansive and growing audience accessing the contents of our magazine. Knowing the actual numbers is fine but it goes well beyond that---no more guessing: • We know the actual duration of each visit, down to the last second • We know with the same exactness the number of visitors who are new and those who return regularly. Under the leadership of our FFF President, Dale Leikam, we've also integrated separate sites (the Fluid Fertilizer Foundation and its members, a pdf form of the Fluid Journal, and our magazine edition on Realview) to present a more unified presence and FLUID JOURNAL ARTICLE ARCHIVES 18 years of agricultural research and studies available, dating back to 1993, the inaugural date of the Fluid Journal. Spanning our first year, 3,850 visits and 81,034 page views in 28 countries since we've joined the Realview web. We publish 4 times a year, each edition packed with valuable agronomic research that will help you maximize yields. Visit our archives at: www.fluidfertilizer.com
